Week 26: Missing Friends Found

Roskile Blitz Splits (18 members and 14 missionaries - a good amount of members left before the pic) |
Hej there, fellas! Let me fill you in on this glorious week in my favorite socialist land. So after two weeks of straight zeros - meaning no new friends, no friends in church, no baptismal dates, no baptisms - the Lord rained down blessings from heaven with 2 new friends and 15 possible friends. I know that you are all wondering deep down inside how this happened but I hope you can practice enough patience to continue reading and find out yourself. ;)
Throughout the week, I traveled more than I ever have on the mish. I went to Nykøping Falster, Ballerup, Rødovre, Amager and Frederiksberg in the short span of 4 days. Nykøbing was the first destination that I traveled to because Ældste Brown wanted to do four man splits in Roskilde, but Nykøbing and Roskilde both had eating appointments scheduled that couldn´t be cancelled. Brown used his district leader power to send his obedient ammo man down to join Ældste Krueger for an entire day. While we did have some fun contacting and knocking for four hours, I would have to say the highlights of our time together were ordering a Daim McFlurry from McDonald´s, watching interviews of a few Elders on TV 2, and learning how to play chords on the mandolin. Not too shabby.
Ældste Brown had to attend a culture course on Thursday and Friday with most of his MTC group. Those 2 friends that I mentioned before were actually found while my comp was attending this infamous class in København. I was with Ældste Kresge, my "grandpa" (he trained Brown, who was my second trainer), as we like to call it out here. We visited two extremely positive people who became friends. The coolest part about these two friends was that they both let us know that they have been searching for truth. That´s always a wonderful thing to hear as a missionary, no doubt! The first friend was named Thomas and the second friend was named Kirstine. We talked to them about the Restoration, the Book of Mormon, the Priesthood, and personal revelation. Afterward, we prayed with them and invited them to come to church on Sunday. Hopefully they showed up!
The massive group assembled in København for the culture course and those in charge of transporting them all went to a brief missionary splits on Amager. I was with Ældste Neiderman, and we wandered the streets for an hour trying to hand out 4 Mormongs Bøger. Unfortunately, we didn´t reach our lofty goal, but we did hand one out! We also got some candy at a shop precisely 2 minutes before it closed so we scored with that. Then we drove back to Amager only to be pleasantly surprised by pizza and ice cream. Yummmm!! Many thanks go out to Ældste & Søster Gleason, the senior couple missionaries in the office.
We had an impressive zone leader training that used a short movie called "The Phone Call" to explain how we can be more bold with using scriptures in our teaching. We also learned how to organize a "scriptural cannon", which is a notebook on the Gospel Library with at least 5 scripture referrences that answer difficult questions. We had a role play and had 2 minutes to apply a scripture to different life situations. It was definitely the most engaging and enjoyable training on the mish. Shoutout to Ældste Kresge and Ældste Appleby! The training was followed by a historical event: a MASSIVE blitz splits in Roskilde! We had 14 missionaries and 18 ward members show up to finally make the dream of rushing Roskilde come true. 15 companionships went out all around the city and we found 15 possible friends together. Brown and I are going to be BUSY the last half of the transfer and we couldn´t be more grateful for that!
Sunday was missionary themed and the whole ward was raving over the success of the blitz splits. We heard miraculous experiences of finding prepared people from Lars, Gabby, Stefan, and Ældste Brown. We also heard a homecoming talk by Lærke, who served in Peru (I can still understand a good chunk of Spanish, thankfully). Everyone was so excited!! Præsident & Søster Olsen showed up to attend our ward and thanked me, Brown, Jensen, and Peterson for hyping up the members. In his own words, Præsident said, "In God we trust and Roskilde ældsterne." We got a good laugh out of that one! Many members came up to us after church and asked when the next blitz splits would be. We'll be planning another one here shortly and hope to have even more people show up next time. :)
Okay, spiritual thought! Paul has always been my favorite New Testament apostles. He's just so bold - I love it! I was glancing in Galatians and read, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7) Sometimes Satan deceives us into thinking that nothing will come out of us sharing the light of the gospel. That is NOT true! God blesses us when we seek to bring this knowledge unto others! It may take some time, but someone will eventually accept Jesus Christ into his or her life from simple invitations or examples of saints around the world. The real question is, who is willing to put in the work? I invite all to ponder on their dedication to the gospel and consider one way to improve it this week.
I thank all those who send messages to me, pray for me, and support me. I cannot thank God enough for the people that lift me up every single day! God is so good!
Jeg elsker jer højt,
Ældste Moore
