Week 18: Living The Dream

Christmas parade

Sometimes I honestly feel like I'm living in a dream 24/7 cause of the unpredictable things that happen in Denmark. I can't control anything either so it totally feels like I'm unconscious in my bed while my head is creating this sub-reality for two years. Whelp folks, looks like I'm living the dream! 😅

I swear, every time I go on splits to Nykøbing Falster something totally unexpected happens! This time, we were down there so Ældste Brown could do a baptismal interview and I went out street contacting / door knocking with Ældste Krueger. We stopped this pyscho lady that talked to us for over an hour about so many random things. She kept telling us to buy her book called "Mig og Livets Eventyr" (Me and the Adventure of Life). She also talked about the importance of getting married at age 18, the necessity of having Yugoslavian wives, and the end of the world in November 2020 - just to name a few...

Along with this questionable interaction, we did experience something pretty uncommon in Denmark. A family offered to fed us dinner in their house! 😮 We stood outside the door for a few seconds until the father insisted that we come in since he had previously served a mission in England. They were very religious so we said a prayer around the table to bless the food. Right before we left, the dad asked us to give a spiritual thought. Krueger and I played rock, paper, scissors to see who'd give it. I won and thought I was home free, but then I got thrown a curveball when I was told that the winner gives the spiritual thought in this household. I pulled out a Christmas video and we discussed what Jesus has done for us. It wasn't awful for so how last it was so I'm not complaining.

Ældste Brown and I gave a team lesson with Søster Weaver and Søster Montgomery to Ruune. We basically told him that if he's serious he needs to start keeping commitments and seeking after truth himself. We let him know that our job is not to force the gospel on others but simply invite. We gave him an invitation to read in the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Our plan is to continue teaching him if he does it and to drop him if he doesn't. It's been nearly 7 weeks that he hasn't been doing what we've asked. It's definitely really difficult dropping friends!

It's a good thing that we have two really positive friends right now! Natasja is SOOO close to baptism - it's crazy! She comes to church every week now! The APs and Roskilde Elders met her nearly 3 months ago and we have all noticed a dramatic change in her. She has told us several times that she wants to get baptized, but she's still unsure about which church to join. She's been looking for an answer for quite some time. Sounds like a familiar situation, right? She's basically the female version of Joseph Smith. 😉 Matilde is coming to church every week as well and is becoming closer and closer to Natasja. Brown and I met her our first week here and there's been an obvious transformation in her also. It's always great to see how the gospel changes us for the better!

Præsident Olsen shared a dope scripture in his weekly email that I'd like to write in here. It's in John 1:6-8 which says, "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light." I think a good way to apply this is to replace John's name with your own. This helps me see that we can be small beacons unto the biggest beacon of them all - Jesus Christ.

Thanks for all the emails, thoughts, and prayers! I really appreciate having such a strong support system! 🤗

P.S. I actually wrote this part first cause I don't wanna leave this out. 😂 Happy 18th Birthday this upcoming week to my darling (*Edna Mode voice*) sister Kaylee! 🥳 I hope the fam makes it extra special cause you're joining me as an official adult now. Where has the time gone? 🤔
